County Government Jim Desmond San Diego County Supervisor for District 5.Jim previously served as mayor of San Marcos from 2006-2014. For two years prior to mayor, Desmond served as a San Marcos City Council member.In addition to his Supervisor duties, Jim is the chair of the SANDAG Regional Transportation Committee. Supervisor Desmond also serves as a Board Member of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.Supervisor Desmond is a US Navy Veteran. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from San Diego State University. He completed the Leadership North County program at California State University San Marcos. In the 1990s he founded, managed and sold Technical Standards, Inc. a technical writing and document company.
