Connecting Community

The Chamber brings together two important parts of Bonsall – our community and the businesses that serve it. We create opportunities for businesses and organizations to connect, while helping residents and visitors discover the people, businesses, events and resources available right here in Bonsall.

The Chamber is here for more than just business owners. We bring together local businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, community groups, professionals, residents and community leaders who share an interest in the future of Bonsall.

Create Opportunities

Our work takes many forms. We provide opportunities for local businesses to meet and build relationships, promote our members and their services, support community events and initiatives, and help connect people with local resources. We also work to give our business community a voice and create opportunities for collaboration

We Believe in Bonsall

We believe strong communities are built through strong relationships. We believe local businesses are an important part of what makes a community special, and that businesses are stronger when they support and connect with one another.

Most of all, we believe in the people who make Bonsall what it is. By working together, sharing ideas and supporting one another, we can help create a community where local businesses and the people they serve can thrive.

Our History

The Bonsall Chamber of Commerce was officially chartered on December 10, 1990, but its story began months earlier when a group of dedicated community members recognized the need for a unified voice to represent the growing Bonsall area.

On June 22, 1990, twenty-five local representatives gathered for the first organizational meeting to discuss forming a Chamber of Commerce. Over the following months, volunteers worked tirelessly to establish the foundation of the organization, creating committees, recruiting members, securing office space, and raising startup funds from local businesses and residents who believed in the future of Bonsall.

By the summer of 1990, dozens of businesses and community leaders had stepped forward as Charter Members, investing both financially and personally in the Chamber’s success. Their commitment reflected a shared vision: to preserve the character of Bonsall while supporting responsible growth and economic opportunity.

The Chamber’s first Board of Directors and officers were elected in October 1990, with Herbert Mateas serving as the organization’s first President. Later that year, the Chamber adopted its original logo and officially received its charter from the State of California.

Since its founding, the Bonsall Chamber of Commerce has been guided by a long line of dedicated volunteer leaders, board members, and business advocates who have worked to strengthen the community and support local commerce. Through changing times, the Chamber has remained committed to promoting local businesses, preserving Bonsall’s unique identity, and serving as a trusted resource for residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs alike.

Today, the Chamber continues to build upon the vision established by its founders more than three decades ago—connecting businesses, fostering community partnerships, and helping ensure that Bonsall remains one of Southern California’s most distinctive and welcoming communities.
